Overview:

Prompted by the need for new private financial investment in LA's most economically distressed communities, Genesis LA was founded in 1998 by former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. Since its first loan deployment in 2002, Genesis LA has since invested in over 200 community development projects, with over $640 million in capital allocated. Today, Genesis LA is certified as both a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), as well as a Community Development Entity (CDE).
